Central Europe Energy Partners (CEEP) in cooperation with the European Policy Centre is organising a policy dialogue on just energy transition in Central and Eastern Europe, on the 7th of March, in Brussels.

Today, 41 regions in 12 EU countries are actively mining coal, mostly located in Central and South-Eastern Europe. As the Paris Agreement and the vision for a net zero carbon economy by 2050 require the EU and its member states to step up their decarbonisation efforts to an unprecedented level, this has also major implications for energy production and thus for the energy producing regions, their societies and economies.

This Policy Dialogue will examine the state of play and the distributional implications of the energy transition in Central and Eastern Europe, the main barriers in achieving a just transition, and the role that the EU and member states can play to support the regions and people in the transition.
